The history of exploration and discovery of the Long Canyon gold deposit, Elko County, Nevada, United States

$10.00

The Long Canyon gold deposit is located along the eastern flank of the Pequop
Mountains in Elko County, Nevada. Historical gold exploration in the Pequops has
been limited, as this area was long thought to be not prospective for gold mineralization.
In 1993, Pittston Nevada Gold Company (PNGC) came to Nevada and conducted
regional target generation utilizingBLEG(Bulk Leach Extractable Gold) technology.
The standout success of PNGC’s program was the discovery of gold mineralization in
the Pequop Mountains, first on the west side of the range in 1995 and at Long Canyon
on the east side of the range in 2000.
In 2005,AuExVentures Inc. (AuEx) acquired the assets ofPNGCand resumed exploration,
and in 2006 entered into a joint venture with NewWest Gold (USA) Inc.
(NewWest). The venture completed 53 drill holes by the end of 2007, significantly expanding
the footprint of mineralization.
