Where: The Martin Hotel, 94 W. Railroad St., Winnemucca, NV

Time: Drinks @ 6 PM, Food @ 6:30 PM, Talk @ 7 PM

Sponsor: Neilsen Exploration

Speaker: Michael Walsh

Talk: “Grade Control — Critical for Success”

ABSTRACT: Accidents, Economics, Innovation, Opportunities, You.

This is the story of how an incorrect assumption in defining a Resource forced mining practices to change and turned a mine around.

BIO: Michael Walsh is a mining engineer and mine manager from Perth, Western Australia. His career has been spread in roughly equal proportions between underground mining and open-pit mining, swapping from one to the other many times. He has worked in gold, iron, copper and tantalum, and in the industrial minerals, barite, bentonite, diatomite (diatomaceous earth) and perlite. His desire to travel and “see the world while working” led him out of Australia to work in Iran, the USA, Burkina Faso (where the village he was living in was bombed in an offensive attack from Mali), to Ethiopia, Mongolia, China, Switzerland, South Africa and Turkey.
