Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park and Buffalo Canyon Reduced Intrusion-Related Gold Deposit

GSN Fall 2020 Field Trip is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2020. The trip  will visit the historic Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park and the Buffalo Canyon Gold Prospect.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

Friday, October 9, 2020:  5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Pre-trip Zoom meeting information session and speaker to follow.

Saturday, October 10, 2020:  Due to Covid-19, all participants will drive to Berlin State Park in their own vehicles.

10:00 a.m. – Begin arriving at Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park.

11:00 a.m. – Fossil building opens and a paleontological tour will be led by Dr. Joshua Bonde, GSN So. Nevada Chapter President.

12:30 p.m. – Berlin mining ghost townsite tour.  Sack Lunch provided during this time.  Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions by October 1st!

2:00 p.m. – Buffalo Canyon gold project north of Ione led by Pat Quillen and/or Daniel Pace.

5:00 p.m. – Official end of the field trip.  Camping and happy hour begin!

At this point, a socially distant happy hour can begin.  GSN will provide beer and snacks.

COST:  $50 – GSN MEMBER;   $50 – GSN SPOUSE;   $75 – NON-GSN MEMBER;  $0 – GSN STUDENT HELPERS

CAMPING?  All people in your vehicle must register separately for the trip.

– IMPORTANT INFORMATION –

Camping at the State Park is available on a first come first served basis. GSN cannot guarantee spots will be available but every effort will be made to accommodate campers. Day-use/camping fees are included in the registration cost.  You will be on your own for dinner Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning.

To minimize our risk of covid-19 transmission we request attendees do the following:

Do not attend if you have known covid-19 exposure or feel sick

Provide your own transportation

Maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet apart and/or wear masks

Do not share objects
