Description: This is a two day course designed to teach Geoscientists the fundamentals of ESRI’s ArcView GIS application. The class content and exercises utilize geologic data sets. The class manual is well written and will be used as a reference long after course completion. Dennis Geasan has taught the class for many mining companies. The course is independently written and maintained by Iain Allen who currently works for Barrick Gold Corp. If you need either an excellent first time introduction to ArcView or just a refresher then this is the class you have been looking for.

Day 1:
Exercise 1 – Geological, Structural and Geophysical Data in ArcView
Exercise 2 – Symbolizing Geoscience Data
Exercise 3 – Combining a Geophysical Image with a Geology Map
Exercise 4 – Creating a Geology Map for Plotting
Exercise 5 – Georeferencing Images
Exercise 6 – Working with Projections in ArcView

Day 2:
Exercise 7 – Interpreting Geochemical Data – Graduated Colors and Symbols
Exercise 8 – Finding Anomalous Geochemical Samples
Exercise 11 – Building a Geodatabase
Exercise 12 – Digitizing and Editing in ArcView
Exercise 14 – Defining Gold Targets Using Spatial Analysis
