SC-6 Remote Sensing and Spectral Geology
Richard Bedell, AuEx Ventures and David Coulter
This will be two days of papers and seminars on the broad subject of geologic remote sensing and spectroscopy. Remote sensing is a critical geologic mapping tool and is very powerful for exploration whereby alteration assemblages can be identified and their distribution mapped. Papers will include case studies of lithologic, structural, and alteration mapping, from satellite and airborne sensors. Laboratory and field spectrometers will demonstrate outcrop and hand sample mapping techniques, as well as systems setup to log drill core. The meeting will start with a basic review so that geologists not familiar with the range of technologies and methods will have a grounding before more detailed case studies are presented. Cost: $200 (students $100); May 20-21.
