SC-3 Isotopes and Exploration: Bringing the Esoteric into the Mainstream
Dr. Greg Arehart, University of Nevada Reno
Isotope geochemistry has become an integral part of a huge variety of geological investigations, and will continue to be so into the foreseeable future. This short course is designed to provide a basic introduction to the principles of radiogenic and stable isotope geochemistry. No specific background in geochemistry is required to attend this course. At the conclusion of the course the participants should be conversant in the language of isotope geochemistry and have sufficient background to begin to read and understand much of the literature. The practical aspects of setting objectives for sampling and limitations of the analyses for isotopes will be discussed, along with interpretation of data from the literature. Cost: $450; May 15-16.
